Peptide Sterility Testing
What Sterility testing checks
Checks the vial is free of bacterial and fungal contamination.
Add-on from +$159. Complete Custom orders including this test start at $228 per sample. Product and lab selections determine the total.
Sterility testing checks whether a vial contains viable microorganisms — bacteria or fungi — by culturing the sample under conditions that would let any contamination grow. It follows a USP-aligned sterility method (membrane filtration or direct inoculation).
When available, it can be ordered as a Custom add-on, on top of required Basic analysis and any product surcharge. Extra tests other than endotoxins require Custom rather than Standard.
Why it matters for peptides
Endotoxin testing tells you whether bacterial toxins are present; sterility testing tells you whether living microorganisms are. A vial can pass one and fail the other, so for a preparation made or stored outside strict aseptic conditions, the two answer different questions.
If a vial is meant to be sterile, this is the test that confirms it actually is.
Peptides we test the most
Sterility testing availability depends on the compound and selected lab. These are the peptides Finnrick has published the most results for:

Residual Solvents
From +$89Leftover solvents from synthesis can be toxic if they weren’t fully purged.
Custom orders including this test start at $148 per sample, including Basic and any product surcharge. Prices vary by product and lab.
How Finnrick publishes results
Finnrick publishes results when we can establish sample provenance and have enough evidence that the sample represents the product sold by the named vendor. Published results include vendor and product details, helping customers evaluate the available evidence and encouraging better supply-chain decisions.
Results that do not meet these requirements are shared with the requester and kept outside the public record. Read how Finnrick decides which results to publish →
Don’t want to share sample details?
The Confidential option costs an additional $99 per sample in Custom, on top of Basic testing, any product surcharge and selected tests. Standard already includes Confidential. Results are shared with you and not published publicly.
Frequently asked questions
What does a sterility test confirm?
That the vial is free of viable bacterial and fungal contamination, determined by culturing the sample under growth-promoting conditions.
How is sterility testing different from endotoxin testing?
Sterility testing detects living microorganisms; endotoxin testing detects bacterial toxins that can remain even after the bacteria are gone. A sample can pass one and fail the other, so they are complementary.
What method do you use?
A USP-aligned sterility test — membrane filtration or direct inoculation — the standard approach for products that must be sterile.
Add-on from +$159. Complete Custom orders including this test start at $228 per sample. Product and lab selections determine the total.
